Yet in the context of the programme, Mr Sweeney’s rant was understandable, and actually rather rational. Job himself would have been slavering . Maybe I’m simply swallowing BBC - as opposed to scientologist - propaganda. But one of the church’s goons did turn up at Sweeney’s wedding.

The Scientologists’ harassment and intimidation of the BBC reporter was startling. I certainly forgave Mr Sweeney for losing it. Indeed, I salute him for getting as far as he did with his report, and for shedding light on a truly sinister cult.
